Sara Lederer, Psy.D. - Psychologist, Professor, &
I believe in walking through this world from a heart-centered, embodied place. A question I often ask my patients is: "how do we move from the mind and more into the body, into our gut, into our knowing"? I say, do everything and anything you can, day after day, that brings you out of your mind and into your heart or connects you somatically. The best way to control our mind  and reduce anxiety, depression, grief is to simply step out of it, and become more embodied.

How can this be done? Through breath, through conscious awareness and mindfulness, through engaging in activities- any activity - that you enjoy. Further, visualization and meditation are *great tools (please see my tab "speaking" and "meditations" for more info). Yoga helps drop us into our bodies and out of our minds. Dancing. Playing with children. Petting animals. Being in nature. Being amongst friends and family that you love.
