Yoga is a great adjunct to personal therapy. In difficult times, we have one constant that we can return to for support, nurture and recentering: our breath. Whether we are struggling with mind, body or spirit, the breath is a consistent companion that we can turn to for solace, in the face of discomfort. I work with clients to develop breathing techniques that resonate for them, to use as a support through difficult times.

Yoga is a physical practice that brings in mental, emotional and spiritual components, while engaging us in the very practice of using breath to guide us through challenging moments. What I appreciate about yoga is that we stop talking about the theory of using breath as a vehicle, and we simply live it, practice it, engage it.

Certain yoga postures are designed as anti-depressants. They open our bodies in ways that can decrease depression through the process of opening our shoulders and hearts, relaxing our bodies and minds, and decreasing the cycle of negative/ spinning thoughts.
